The Mexican Wheel embroidery stitch / style is not written or illustrated often. Below you will find the instructions for this unique embroidery which was described for embroiderers in 1899.

Directions for the Mexican Wheel

Place the threads in position as stamped, A to B, and bring together in the center with a knot. Begin the weaving with a knot at the center, taking a buttonhole stitch over each thread following circle nearest design. Begin the blocks by weaving over one thread C and under the other D, then back again over first thread C until a block is completed. Then make block on outer row E to F, then back again to block on inner row until both rows of blocks are completed. Fasten off and buttonhole around the square and cut away the linen.
