Gretchen Embroidery is not a well known type of embroidery, at least not that I am aware of. It has only been mentioned in one book of the many I have on Victorian fancy work. It looks like a simple type of embroidery.

Instructions

Fasten the braid to the ring in the center of the daisy, making a loop for each petal, until the circle is filled with the petals of braid; then make another row of petals inside of the one already formed, which completes the daisy. Fill the center with French knots.
