Raised Overcast StitchThe Raised Overcast Stitch is sometimes called the Laid Stem Stitch. It is an outline stitch which is raised by working over a straight silk or cord that follows the outline. One thread of silk or cord is laid along the outline and secured by the Overcast Stitch. (See Overcast Stitch ).This gives a heavy raised outline effect suitable for elaborate work.
