We shall deal principally with work on linens and will first indicate, by means of a table, a good stitch (in fact what seems to us the best stitch) for each kind of flower stems. But such a table cannot be arbitrary. In the case of bachelor buttons for example, the table suggests that the twisted Outline Stitch be used for the stems; but the stems can also be worked in Simple Outline and the individual preference of different embroiderers may lead them in some cases to deviate from the following table:
